Happy belated Father's Day! Or Daddy Day or D-Day or Faggot day, depending on how much you like your father. Yesterday I helped my dad put in a new air filter. Some of our father's day conversation:
dad "So what do you want to do with your life?"
me "I dunno. Shoot people from afar?"
The he laughed. Ha.
dad "..."
me "..."
Oh, and, we can't forget this magical conversation:
me "When are you going to teach me how to ride that John Deere?"
dad "Sometime this week if you want." (My dad and I are actually pretty good friends when we're not argueing about my clothes or the computer or how disrespectful I am. In fact, he's funny, and I try to be, so we're usually joking around, but not today so much. My dad makes me feel so stupid and unfunny though, because he's so much funnier than I am. Man.)
We bought one of those signiture green-and-yellow John Deere lawn mowers you sit on and drive a few months ago, and I've wanted to drive it ever since. They sent us a matching green-and-yellow John Deere trucker hat in the mail about a week after we bought the mower. So my short term goal for now is to mow the damn lawn, riding that lawnmower and wearing the matching hat. Oh yes.
I've been thinking lately of my next door neighbor, which is strange because I've only talked to him once. The family next door consists of a mom, a dad (I don't know either of their names), a 12 yr old (I don't remember his name either), and a 16 yr old, whose name is Eric. I talked to the dad, the younger kid, and Eric once on the sidewalk between our houses, and Eric waved to me once from his car when I was walking home from school and he was driving. x_x I feel bad because I've seen him a couple times since then, but haven't said anything. He seems like a nice guy, and he's a John Candy fan.
